When you’re ill or injured, nurses help you get the healthcare you need

At some point in life everyone has health concerns. And when you do, nurses are there to help you get the healthcare you need.

BCNU’s goal is to support nurses as they deliver healthcare services. Nurses should have practice environments where they can use all of their skills and knowledge to give their patients quality care.

An important milestone in improving patient care is unifying the nursing profession. Then LPNs, RNs, RPNs and Nurse Practitioners will all share membership in the same union. When nurses are finally united, they’ll be a strong, cohesive force to promote their patients’ best interests.

BCNU’s goals for a united nursing profession:

  • Improve practice conditions so nurses can better manage workload and give each patient the healthcare services they need.
  • Help nurses expand their skills and knowledge. BCNU wants all nurses to grow professionally and support each other as they expand their knowledge and apply new skills.
  • Improve collaboration between nurses so best practices can be implemented at every worksite.
  • Build cohesive teams that powerfully advocate for patients’ needs. Nurses facilitate healthcare services like community support, proper discharge planning and patient education. They require the right supports to get patients what they need.

Uniting nurses is an important part of improving patient care. Welcoming Licensed Practical Nurses to BCNU will give them the support they need to develop their practices and flourish as members of a cohesive nursing profession.
